Rhinoceroses of Taiping — Shih Li-Jen at Taiping Sky Bridge
CN |
Mist settles over Taiping Village, Taiwan, as the Sky Bridge spans the ridge. Over time, a family of rhinoceros sculptures has become Meishan’s most recognisable cultural emblem—keeping watch over the mountains, and keeping people company.
With the generous support of Chenbro Micom Co., Ltd., artist Shih Li-Jen’s Yuanbao Rhino is being permanently gifted to Taiping Village. Modelled with a rounded, full silhouette that echoes the form of a traditional gold ingot (yuanbao), the work embodies magnanimity and the wish for prosperity. Its mirror-polished stainless steel gathers the mountains and sky on its surface—like a warm smile—sending blessings to travellers and returning residents alike.
From Rhino Boy to King Kong Rhino, Shih has cultivated an ever-growing “Rhino Family” that pairs strength with benevolence, reminding us that while civilisation leaves its traces, it can also nurture a future of shared flourishing.
We warmly invite you to witness the unveiling of Yuanbao Rhino at Rhinoceroses of Taiping—where art, nature and local culture meet.
